Dead butterflies, I guess. So much for that analogy.
I'm mostly all L&O, all the time. Mostly Mothership, but I'm familiar enough with SVU that I can enjoy a good story there too. And although I have yet to actually watch one single episode of L&O:CI, I've read so much CI fic that I feel I know the characters. Probably won't be doing too much rec'ing of it though, since I can't tell if the characterizations are true to the show. I also still read the occasional X-Files (my first fan love), and Lord of the Rings parodies.
On to the recs:
- I read this one on apocrypha a long time ago, and was pleased to see that it contained both an actual case and Rey Curtis, my favourite character. Two rather rare things in L&O fanfic. Recently angilbas put it up on fanfiction.net. Here it is:
King's Basket, by angilbas.
- I may have herniated something reading these Lord of the Rings diaries by Cassandra Claire. Why? Well, here's a sample, from the Very Secret Diary of Legolas, son of Weemus:
Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.
Here they are in all their glory: diaries for
Aragorn son of Arathorn
Legolas Son of Weemus
Boromir of Gondor
Gandalf the Grey
Saruman the White
Gimli son of Gloin
Ring Wraith No. 5
The author suggests reading them in the order they were written, and I would agree. Here's the Secret Diary page, in case you want to bookmark it.
